1/14/12

Another day of life in an all-encompassing icebox.  Cold enough to keep the lima beans sufficiently chilled and safe for consumption.  Order has been restored and puts the concept of global warming temporarily to rest.  A long winter's nap for unseasonably warmth and something vaguely resembling comfort.

1/5/12

It is good to take a moment to step away from the rut and the routine to enjoy some of life's goodness.  All too often, I play by the rules and cling to the expectations rather than do what makes life rich.  One of the goals of 2012 is to find an appropriate mix of the two and move forward with it.

1/4/12

Sometimes, the mind crawls into places that are best left alone.  All things point to danger and the fate is sealed on impact.  This usually occurs in the waning hours when everything is increasingly vulnerable and the body is practically begging for rest.  The mind walls itself into a state of paranoia preventing the necessary shutdown until it all gives way like parched earth into quicksand.

If the proof is in the pudding, well then who put their proof in my pudding?  This ain't no Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercial.

2012

Time has put a thick layer of haze over so many of the day-to-day details that was the year 2011.  Although every year has its own individual sets of ups, downs, and in-betweens, 2011 was quite a doozy.  Fortunately, nothing overly traumatic so that itself should be considered a victory.  Stripping away all of the residue, I am still here and perhaps that could also be considered a plus for some.

Some people moved out of my life, new arrivals showed up on the scene and some of the classics stayed put.  All of which make for a mix of good, bad, and ugly.  Some that moved on left a vacancy that I didn't think could be filled, but the machine keeps churning and life doesn't stop for a moment despite the occasional need for a pause and an exhale.  Perhaps this is why Auld Lang Syne is so attached to New Year's Eve and to this day, I find it incredibly depressing.

2012 has officially been shoved in our face and I hope that it finds you well.  Although it is selfish, I am hoping that the year rekindles my desire to create and I live up to my mantra of "Awareness, kindness, and respect" in 2012.
